Tom and Valerie Von Stroh
Tom and Valerie Von Stroh share a passion for encouragement. Various personal tragedies in their own lives instilled a fervent trust in the Lord and a strong desire to minister to others. They share a burden with pastors and missionaries in Arctic villages to bring the hope of eternal life in Jesus Christ to broken lives and weary hearts. They want to intentionally encourage and work alongside these pastors and missionaries to see the Gospel brought to bear on the hearts of the people.
Tom pastored several churches, planted a church in an inner-city, and understands the pressures, stress, and dangers of ministry. He knows the onslaught of spiritual warfare on the front lines and the joy of lost souls who come to know and trust in Jesus. Tom watched his father specialize in revitalizing small churches. His mother was born on the mission field in the Amazon in Brazil. Tom earned an MDIV in Missions from Reformed Theological Seminary and took significant seminary coursework in Marriage and Family Therapy. He encourages, counsels, disciples, teaches and preaches to build up the church.
Valerie identifies with the struggles and pressures of wives and families through various trials in her first marriage to a US Army officer. She took care of her own family and ministered to many other wives and families during multiple combat deployments. Valerie participated in outreach and prayer ministries and women’s small group Bible studies for military wives. She led in-home Bible study groups for women and adolescents, worked extensively with younger children in church and athletics, and invested in discipleship. Valerie earned a Masters in Physical Therapy and also works as a Physical Therapist specializing in Neurological Rehabilitation. She often prays with her patients, encourages them in the Word, and shares the hope of the Gospel with them. She feels tremendously blessed to help people heal and return to their lives after rehabilitation. Her enthusiasm to reach lost souls plays out through her ministry to spiritually hurting people.
Tom and Valerie’s seven children (Titus, Micah, William, Adam, Abigail, Esther, and Timothy) bring many joys to their lives. They feel blessed to share the joys and challenges of ministry with their children.
God prepared Tom and Valerie through education, life experience, and trials to care for and minister to missionary and ministry families in the Arctic. They are excited to serve with Arctic Barnabas Ministry from Palmer, AK as regional missionaries.
