Shelby has nearly 40 years’ experience working in Air Traffic Control Maintenance between active-duty Air Force, contractor, and federal civil service since 1981. He has worked with radar, automation, navigational equipment helping maintain safe airways for both civilian and military aviation. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi as well as a certificate in ministry from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor. He has been a certified financial counselor with Crown Ministries. He also currently holds a commercial pilot’s license. Shelby, with his wife Debbie have led bible study classes for singles and young married adults and also taught Sunday School class for Kindergarten age children. Shelby has led and participated in numerous church-sponsored mission trips in Arizona, Texas, and Nome, Alaska. Shelby enjoys hunting, fishing, and reading.
Debbie retired as a Registrar/Principal’s secretary for a high school in Texas and has 30 years’ experience as an administrative assistant. Her previous career fields include medical and legal field, and was employed by Brown & Root Construction, and Amerada-Hess Oil & Gas.
Debbie received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Business Education specializing in the medical and legal field. Debbie has been involved in leading Awana’s, GA’s, and participated in Vacation Bible School for several years. She enjoys sewing and attending craft shows. The Smith’s moved to Alaska in September of 2020 to work in the Partnership/Development area of ABM. They also serve as the Regional Support Missionaries to Nome and the Norton Sound Region. Debbie has also joined the administration team of ABM. They have three grown children living in Texas.
